The Legend

Indonesia’s Most
Mythical Wave

First spotted from a plane in 1972, G-Land (Grajagan Bay) is consistently ranked among the top 3 waves on earth. Eight named sections of perfect left-hand reef break along the edge of Alas Purwo’s ancient jungle — from the thundering barrels of Speedies to the more accessible Tiger Track.

Unlike camps that just sell you a bed, we guide you there with 10+ years of local expertise. We know the tides, the swell windows, the best sections for your level — and we surf with you.

The breaks

8 Sections.
Every Level Has Its Wave.

From the forgiving walls of Tiger Track to the insane barrels of Speedies — G-Land works for anyone willing to make the mission.

Intermediate
20/20s

The natural progression. Softer than the main point, 20/20s offer fun, punchy waves when the main breaks are maxing out. Great for building G-Land confidence.

Fun barrels Open shoulders Inside bay
Advanced
Kong’s

G-Land’s opening act. The widest take-off zone on the reef, most exposed to incoming swell. Square, powerful barrel entries that demand experience and commitment.

Max exposure Square barrels Strong rip
Advanced
Money Trees

The default G-Land session for experienced surfers. 200–300m of mechanical peeling perfection. Ideal at 8–12ft faces. Cavernous barrels that go from tight to open depending on swell.

200–300m rides Best at 8–12ft Shallow sections
Advanced ⚡
Speedies

The iconic one. Insanely fast, hollow barrels that barrel relentlessly toward the channel. A surfer can stay inside the tube for 10–12 seconds. The G-Land experience most people dream of.

12 sec barrels Very fast Expert only
Advanced
Launching Pad

The connector between Money Trees and Speedies. Only appears on moderate to heavy swells — fickle but spectacular when on. A 200-yard barrel section that few surfers ever experience.

Option
Stay Longer — 5 or 7 Days
The more days you stay, the higher the chance of scoring a perfect swell window. Most surfers who do G-Land once want to stay longer. We recommend 5 days to properly experience all sections.
  • More swell windows = higher chance of epic conditions
  • Time to explore Tiger Track + main breaks
  • Jungle wildlife walks in Alas Purwo National Park

Peak season (Jun–Sep)
Good (Apr, Oct)
Off season

Peak: June to September — SE trade winds blow consistently offshore, Indian Ocean groundswells arrive daily. This is when G-Land fires at its best.

Shoulder: April & October — Less consistent but less crowded. Good option for mixed-level groups.

Tiger Track tip: Even during shoulder season, Tiger Track can be great — slightly smaller swell still makes it pump.

🚤
How to Get There Drive from west Bali (Gilimanuk area), ~1 hour crossing. We organize all transfers — you just show up at the departure point.
🏄
Boards to Bring Tiger Track: bring your regular shortboard or a slightly longer board (6’4″–7’0″). Advanced breaks: step-up boards 6’4″–7’2″ with extra volume for paddle power. We advise on quiver before departure. Board rentals is available.
🦺
Safety & Health Helmets recommended for shallow sections at Money Trees. Medical facilities are limited on site.
🎒
What to Pack Sunscreen (reef-safe), reef booties, leash (bring spare), surf wax (warm water), lightweight clothes, mosquito repellent, basic first aid kit, cash (IDR, no ATMs on site). You are in the jungle.

FAQ

G-Land Surf Retreat —
All Your Questions Answered

The main breaks at G-Land (Kongs, Money Trees, Speedies) are advanced-only waves — shallow reef, heavy barrels, strong currents. However, Tiger Track is a completely different story. Located 40 minutes down the beach, it’s a long, fun left-right suitable for confident beginners and intermediate surfers. It works best during our mixed-level group trips.
We will drive carfrom west Bali (near Gilimanuk), taking approximately 4 hours across the Bali island to Java island. We can organize your transfer from south Bali as well til west Bali.
Peak season: May to September — SE trade winds blow offshore all day, Indian Ocean groundswells arrive consistently. This is when G-Land fires at its absolute best. The waves are 2–3 feet bigger than comparable Bali spots. Shoulder season: April and October — less consistent but less crowded, still great for Tiger Track sessions. We check forecasts before confirming your trip dates and can advise on the best window for your level and schedule.
Our G-Land retreats start from IDR 5,000,000 per person for the Tiger Track option, and IDR 8,000,000+ for the full advanced experience. This is all-inclusive: transfers, accommodation on site, 2 meals a day, water, surf coaching and video analysis. The final price depends on group size (min. 3 persons), duration (3, 5 or 7 days), and accommodation choice. Contact us on WhatsApp for a custom quote — we always reply within a few hours.
For Tiger Track: a 6’2″–7’0″ shortboard or a fish/mid-length works great. The wave is forgiving and fun on a variety of shapes. For the main breaks (Kongs, Money Trees, Speedies): bring a step-up board with extra volume, 6’4″–7’2″. The waves are powerful and paddle power matters. Bring at least 2 boards — broken boards and dings happen. We’ll advise on your specific quiver before departure based on forecast and your level.
Yes — this is actually one of G-Land’s strengths and one of the reasons we love organizing these trips. The advanced surfers go to Money Trees and Speedies in the morning, while the intermediate/beginner group heads to Tiger Track with a dedicated guide. Sessions can overlap or alternate. It’s one of the few surf destinations in Indonesia where completely different levels can coexist on the same trip and both score incredible waves.
G-Land’s main breaks are serious reef waves — shallow coral, strong currents, powerful surf. They require experience. Tiger Track is significantly safer for developing surfers. Health-wise: G-Land is in a malaria-prone zone — consult a doctor 4–6 weeks before your trip. Bring mosquito repellent and consider antimalarial medication. Medical facilities on site are basic — travel insurance is strongly recommended. Our guide will brief you on reef safety, entry/exit points, and currents before every session.
Simple — send us a WhatsApp message with: your preferred travel dates, group size, surf levels in your group, and which option interests you (Tiger Track or Full G-Land). We’ll reply with availability, swell forecast advice for your dates, a custom quote, and all the practical info you need. No complicated booking forms. We’re surfers talking to surfers.
